NVIDIA is developing a new AI chip for China, internally known as the B30A, based on the latest Blackwelldesign, which outperforms the current H20 in terms of performance. The chip comes with a single silicon-on-silicon design, giving it half the power of the flagship B300, with features such as high-bandwidth memory and NVLink technology to accelerate data transfer between processors. Nvidia plans to send test samples to Chinese customers soon after receiving approval from U.S. regulators.
The issue of China's access to advanced AI chips is a point of tension between Washington and Beijing, especially with the previous suspension of H20 sales and US export restrictions. At the same time, Nvidia seeks to provide alternative products such as the RTX6000D at lower prices, while remaining competitive, while Chinese media warns of potential security risks on US chips. NVIDIA emphasizes that its hardware is completely safe, and continues to support the Chinese market within government rules.
