Apple launches iPhone 17 series with limited focus on AI

On September 10, 2025, Apple unveiled the iPhone 17 series focusing more on performance and security than highlighting AI capabilities, in a marked reversal from its strategy the previous year. The highlight was the 5.6mm-thick iPhone Air - the thinnest yet - equipped with an A19/A19 Pro chip with neural engines and local language models to support gaming and photography. On the security front, the company introduced Memory Integrity Enforcement technologies to enhance kernel security without compromising device speed. Updates include Apple Watch Ultra 3 with a 42-hour battery and satellite connectivity, as well as AirPods Pro 3 with dual noise cancellation and real-time translation. Although there are AI applications in improving translation and fitness, the presentation focused mainly on physical hardware and battery life.
