The European Central Bank contracts artificial intelligence for digital payments.

On October 2, 2025, the European Central Bank announced its contract with Feedzai to build an artificial intelligence model that monitors the risk of fraud in payments planned for the "Digital Euro". The agreement spans up to 4 years with an estimated value of €237.3 million and includes PwC as a subcontractor. Benefit: Improve the security of payments between centralized e-wallets and reduce fraud by analyzing user behaviors and deviations. Impact: Paves the way for a more independent and resilient European payments system against alternatives to the dollar and stablecoins as we approach the expected launch in 2029.
