DeepMind launches CodeMender to fix software flaws
On October 11, 2025, DeepMind unveiled CodeMender, an AI agent built to detect and repair software vulnerabilities automatically, combining fuzzing, static analysis, and symbolic reasoning. Already, it has contributed 72 verified fixes to open-source projects. The tool helps reduce developer effort in bug fixing while keeping human oversight in the loop. If widely adopted, it could raise baseline code security and accelerate software maintenance globally.
