Movable Type 9 is now available, offering new and improved features that enhance the editing and asset management process, while the Data API enables content management outside the web. The Movable Type AMI Edition is available, allowing you to run Movable Type on Amazon EC2. It is an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) that includes the operating system with Movable Type pre-installed and is available through the AWS Marketplace, making it quick and easy to purchase and deploy the latest versions of Movable Type. The AMI edition provides an optimized and scalable environment for Movable Type, as the operating system, applications, web server, PSGI server, PHP, and database have all been optimized for running Movable Type. The software costs $0.07 per hour or $499 per year, while it is always free when running Movable Type AMI Edition (nginx) on Micro Instances only, such as t3.micro and t3.nano. Movable Type AMI Edition can be easily updated using just the `yum` command, eliminating the need for manual updates, and a free 7-day trial is available for all instance types. The system is based on Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023) and supports Movable Type 9.0 and Movable Type 8.8 with Apache httpd and nginx servers for both arm64 and x86 architectures, The release supports both Apache httpd and nginx servers within the AMI, with Apache httpd set as the default web server; users can switch between web servers using the newly added /app/tools/switch-webserver command.
