📝 What does this tool offer?
Modsy is a platform specializing in interior design and 3D visualization. It allows users to convert photos, room measurements, or floor plans into a 3D model of the space, then create realistic interior designs using furniture and decor. The platform allows users to visualize the proposed space before purchasing furniture or making changes to it.
Modsy combines 3D visualization technologies with the services of real interior designers: a designer works to design the space according to the user’s style and budget, then presents 3D visualizations that can be modified and reviewed until the desired design is achieved.
The platform offers realistic 3D designs from multiple angles, as well as bird’s-eye views and 360° views, with the ability to use the 3D design editor to swap out furniture and experiment with different layouts.
Modsy also offers a design-linked shopping experience, allowing users to browse the furniture and decor items featured in the design and purchase the corresponding products. The Renovation Design service also provides a shopping list that includes the materials, fixtures, finishes, and furniture used in the project.
The platform currently offers the Renovation Design service for projects involving the redesign or renovation of spaces, including kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, bedrooms, home offices, basements, garages, outdoor spaces, and new construction. The service includes structural and architectural concepts, floor plans, 3D designs, and an immersive virtual tour.
Modsy also offers a free quiz to determine interior design style; the quiz uses images from which the user selects likes and dislikes, and algorithms then analyze these choices to identify the right design style mix for the user.
The current homepage states that the Modsy team and technology became part of Lennar on August 30, 2023, and that the company had developed a visualization engine that allows users to scan rooms in 3D and redesign them virtually.
⭐ What does it actually offer based on user experience?
- It allows users to visualize the design within the actual room rather than relying solely on 2D images or floor plans.
- It provides realistic 3D designs that can be used to visualize how furniture and decor will look within the space.
- It allows you to experiment with different layouts and furniture using the 3D design editor.
- It allows you to request design modifications and collaborate with the designer until you achieve the desired result.
- It offers multiple design views, including a top-down view and 360° views.
- It links the design to real, shoppable products, helping you move from visualization to selecting furniture and decor.
- The renovation service provides customized visualizations and a list of materials, fixtures, and finishes needed for the project.
- The current website also offers a free quiz to help determine your interior design style.
🤖 Does it include automation?
Yes, Modsy includes features based on algorithms and 3D visualization technologies. The company has developed a visualization engine capable of converting photos of spaces into 3D models, and the design style quiz uses algorithms to analyze the user’s choices and identify the design style that best suits them.
However, the current design service also relies on specialized human designers, as the designer is responsible for creating concepts and 3D designs and reviewing them with the client. Therefore, the service is not limited to automation alone.
